Writing for professional services has evolved from days when traffic was all the rage. These days, many readers skim due to shorter attention spans. Yet search engines and potential customers still need informative long-form content, especially by targeting readers at specific stages of the buying journey. Thanks to Ahrefs for the following statistics.

Plan the writing process to cover value points.
- Alignment with Practice Strategy - Before writing anything. we ensure your practice goals are clear and specific. Who are you reaching and what do they need? Do you have a buyer persona? What do you want them to do when they read your content?
- Media Planning - Will the writing be accompanied by a video or infographic? We can collaborate with your team to share the content and messaging to ensure consistency.
- Style Guidelines and Brand Voice - Do you have style guidelines or brand voice preferences that should be considered when developing the new articles? This can help you stand out from other CPA firms.
- Word Count / Length - Internet search engines tend to rank longer-form content better but they don't like fluff. If a shorter piece is more valuable for your audience, we will recommend it.

- Create a Linking Strategy - We don't think about linking only when we remember. Internal and external linking strategies are developed early on since they are important for SEO; we record content topics and structure a well-organized linking structure ahead of time. This is also good for a user's engagement.
- Organize with Headers and Subheadings - We organize long-content into shorter sections with headers and subheads, which is good due to readers' skimming tendencies, search engine optimization and, increasingly, generative engine optimization (which makes it easier for AI search engines to read your content).
- Call to Action - You may want your readers to do something after they've read your content. When needed, we will include a sensible call to action e.g. to download a resource, reach out for a consultation or ask a question.
- Proofread Content and Links - We proofread the content as a separate process and not as something we do as we go. We also ensure links work before submitting the content for your review. And when we link to external sites, we make the page open in a new tab since we don't want anyone leaving your website.
